Privacy Policy
Our commitment to data safety — zero cookies, zero collection.
1. Commitment to Data Privacy & Custody Statement
At MegaTools, privacy is not a marketing catchphrase—it is the foundational architecture of our platform. We operate under a strict local-first model. When you paste sensitive configuration code, format proprietary JSON arrays, compare documents, or generate security tokens on our site, that information remains inside your device's local random-access memory (RAM). We do not transmit, collect, or store your text, files, passwords, or images on our servers. Consequently, MegaTools does not act as a data controller or data processor under global data legislation for your input contents because we never hold custody of them. For privacy compliance questions, please contact privacy@megatools.tech.
2. Types of Information We Collect and Process
While we never view or record the contents of your utility operations, we do collect minimal technical information to maintain system health and performance: (a) Server logs: When your browser requests web page files (HTML, CSS, JS), our servers record standard, non-personally identifiable variables such as IP addresses (anonymized at the edge), user-agent strings, and visited page paths. This is used solely for traffic management, rate-limiting, and security forensics. Server logs are automatically overwritten and destroyed within 30 days. (b) Diagnostic metrics: We collect aggregated, anonymous usage patterns (e.g. which tools are visited most frequently) to prioritize UI improvements. No individual profiles or tracing identifiers are created.
3. Local Client-Side Storage Mechanisms
MegaTools utilizes standard browser storage APIs, including LocalStorage and SessionStorage, to preserve user interface configurations and variables. Specifically, we store state information like your light/dark theme preference (`data-theme`) and temporary interface selections. This data resides exclusively in your device's local browser sandbox and is never synchronized with our servers. You can clear this preference data at any time by clearing your browser cache or site storage. If you choose to configure custom settings, they remain local to that specific browser installation.
4. Third-Party Integrations, Advertising, and Tracking Redirects
To fund hosting costs, domain renewals, and platform upkeep without putting the utilities behind a paywall, we display contextual advertisements. We require our advertising partners to deploy non-personalized, contextual ads wherever possible. These ad units are selected based on the content of the page you are viewing rather than your personal search history or behavioral profile. Our ad networks do not have access to any content you process inside the utilities. We do not sell, license, or rent user traffic logs to commercial data brokers. Direct advertising inquiries to business@megatools.tech.
5. Compliance with Global Regulatory Standards (GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, HIPAA)
Because MegaTools does not ingest, transmit, or host user files or clipboard inputs, our services inherently align with the world's most stringent privacy frameworks: (a) GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation): Since no personal data is transferred across borders or stored on our infrastructure, we do not require data transfer mechanisms or processing agreements. (b) CCPA/CPRA (California Consumer Privacy Act): We do not "sell" or "share" personal consumer data as defined by California statutes. (c) HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act): Developers can format healthcare datasets locally without violating patient confidentiality constraints because data remains sandboxed on the user's local hardware.
6. Children's Privacy Protection (COPPA)
Our Platform is intended for use by professional developers, students, and general audiences. We comply fully with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). We do not knowingly target, solicit, or collect personal data from children under the age of 13. If you believe we have accidentally logged server metadata belonging to a minor under 13, please report it immediately to privacy@megatools.tech so we can purge the server logs.
